Going Green: Ditching the Plastic Habit

We started going green a year ago. In fact, we are trying to implement the zero waste management program at home and is quite satisfied with the results. That even my little kid Kristiona, 3 knows how to do her own share in saving the environment. I am surprised that at a very young age she already knows to keep her trash, her pockets are always full of candy wrappers ;-)

One of the huge problems we are facing is the over usage of plastic bags. All these bags are non-biodegradable and filling our landfills everyday. So just imagine the number of plastic bags we use and how many tons of that are we compiling each year. The figures shows horrendous horror! In our own little way we can help save the environment and pass a good life to our future generations. Just by doing the 3Rs at home could mean a lot. Reduce our waste, Reuse the reusable and Recycle.

Being plastic-free requires time and practice as we could not eliminate plastic and turn into a plastic-free angel in just a day. It's impossible but with time and lots of discipline - you're on your way to a safe and plastic-free living. Being plastic-free should not be boring so my husband and I came up with the idea of bringing glamour to these fabulous bags. The idea of reversible bags came from me who got so tired of the usual bags I get from department stores so I thought, why not make it reversible? That started it.

I coined the name "Bag-a-Berde" since I could not find the exact Filipino word for "bag". That instead of Berde Bags for Green Bags, I tweaked it a bit and "Bag-a-Berde" was born.
